FAQ

Is the Axial UTB18 Capra suitable for beginners? Yes. It arrives completely assembled with the radio, LiPo battery, charger and transmitter batteries included. Its slow-speed crawling focus also makes it approachable for new RC drivers, while the portal axles, 4WS and capable suspension provide plenty of performance for experienced crawler enthusiasts.

What is the advantage of four-wheel steering? Steering both axles gives the UTB18 a very tight turning radius and helps it manoeuvre through narrow gates, around rocks and over technical obstacles where a conventional front-steer crawler may require several attempts or reversing manoeuvres.

Can the rear steering be controlled separately? The factory SLT3 radio provides the standard rear-steering functionality intended for the RTR setup. Because the vehicle uses a separate Spektrum SR515 5-channel receiver rather than a combined receiver/ESC, experienced users have additional radio-upgrade possibilities if they want more advanced rear-steering control.

How long does the included battery last? Axial states that the supplied Spektrum Smart 650mAh 2S battery can provide more than 30 minutes of runtime. Actual runtime varies with terrain, steering use, throttle input and driving style.

Does it have portal axles? Yes. The UTB18 uses portal axles with Currie F9-style housings. Portal gearing positions the axle centreline higher relative to the wheels, increasing ground clearance around rocks and other trail obstacles.

Are the tyres and wheels licensed products? Yes. It comes equipped with officially licensed Pro-Line Mickey Thompson Baja Pro X tyres mounted to Pro-Line Holcomb Crawler Bead-Loc wheels.

Does it use standard 12mm wheel hexes? Yes. The UTB18 uses 12mm wheel hexes, which gives owners a broad range of potential aftermarket wheel options. Always check tyre diameter, width and offset before changing wheels or tyres to ensure adequate steering and suspension clearance.

Is the motor brushless? No. The factory power system uses a Dynamite Tazer 37T 380-size brushed motor paired with a Spektrum Firma 25A brushed ESC.

Can I upgrade it to brushless? Brushless conversions are popular among experienced UTB18 owners, but they require a compatible motor and ESC and can alter low-speed response, drivetrain load and vehicle behaviour. For most users, running the crawler in its factory configuration first is the best way to identify which upgrades will actually improve their preferred style of crawling.

Does it include working lights? Yes. The Capra tube chassis incorporates LED lighting, adding both trail visibility and realistic scale appearance.

Is everything really included? Yes. Unlike many hobby-grade RTR vehicles that still require batteries or charging equipment, AXI-1750T2 includes the crawler, transmitter, 2S LiPo battery, USB-C charger and four AA transmitter batteries.

Important Notes

  • This listing is for the yellow AXI-1750T2 version with Mickey Thompson livery.
  • The vehicle is fully Ready-to-Run with battery, charger and transmitter batteries included.
  • Use only compatible 2S LiPo batteries and observe correct IC2 connector polarity.
  • Always follow LiPo charging, handling and storage safety procedures.
  • The supplied S10 G2 charger requires a suitable USB-C power source.
  • Allow the motor and electronics to cool between demanding crawling sessions if necessary.
  • Four-wheel steering places additional demands on steering components; inspect steering links and servo horns periodically.
  • When fitting heavier wheels or tyres, consider the additional load placed on steering servos and drivetrain components.
  • Check wheel nuts, suspension hardware and steering components regularly during use.
  • After driving in wet or dirty conditions, clean and dry the vehicle before storage.
