Bittydesign Liquid Mask is a ready-to-use water-based masking solution designed to make detailed RC body painting faster and easier than conventional masking tape. Developed for custom painting and airbrushing, it flows into curves, corners and complex Lexan body shapes before drying to a semi-transparent film that can be cut to create precise graphics and multi-colour paint schemes.

The liquid mask requires no dilution and can be applied over the inside of a prepared clear RC body. Once dry, the semi-transparent finish makes body lines and drawn designs easier to see while cutting. Sections of mask can then be removed progressively as each colour is applied. Bittydesign states that the 16oz size is sufficient for approximately 20 1/8 buggy bodies or 12-13 1/10 touring car bodies, depending on application.

Features

  • Ready to Use: Supplied ready for application with no dilution required
  • Water-Based Formula: Solvent-free water-based masking material designed for modelling and custom painting applications
  • Ideal for Lexan Bodies: Reaches curves, corners and complex body contours that can be difficult to cover cleanly with conventional tape
  • Semi-Transparent When Dry: Makes body lines and underlying artwork easier to follow when cutting detailed designs
  • Clean Paint Separation: Helps produce accurate multi-colour graphics and reduces the risk of paint bleeding between masked areas
  • Easy Removal: Designed to peel away without leaving adhesive residue
  • Fast Application: Large areas of a body can be coated more efficiently than individually masking them with tape
  • Suitable for Detailed Graphics: Mask can be carefully cut after drying to create custom shapes, lines and multi-stage paint schemes
  • Quick Drying: Drying can be accelerated with moving warm air when required
  • Long Storage Life: Bittydesign states that an opened bottle can remain usable for several months when stored correctly
  • Large 16oz Size: Designed for painters completing multiple RC bodies

FAQ

Does Bittydesign Liquid Mask need to be diluted? No. Bittydesign specifies that the liquid mask is supplied ready to use and does not require dilution.

How much can one 16oz bottle cover? Bittydesign estimates approximately 20 1/8 buggy bodies or 12-13 1/10 touring car bodies from the 16oz size. Actual coverage depends on body dimensions and how heavily the mask is applied.

Why use liquid mask instead of masking tape? Liquid mask can cover complicated curves, corners and detailed Lexan shapes without needing many overlapping pieces of tape. Once dry, designs can be cut directly into the mask, making it particularly useful for detailed multi-colour paint schemes.

Can Bittydesign Liquid Mask be brushed on? Yes. RC painters commonly brush liquid mask onto bodies when spray application equipment is unavailable. For reliable peeling and cutting, consistent coverage and sufficient overall film thickness are important.

Does the mask leave sticky tape residue? Bittydesign specifically promotes its liquid mask as peeling away without the adhesive residue that can sometimes be left by unsuitable masking tapes.

Important Notes

  • Designed primarily as a masking product for custom painting and airbrushing
  • Liquid mask is supplied ready to use and should not be diluted
  • Ensure the body surface is properly cleaned and prepared before applying the mask
  • Allow the applied mask to dry adequately before cutting or painting
  • Use a fresh, sharp hobby blade when cutting detailed graphics
  • Apply only enough blade pressure to cut through the masking film and avoid scoring or weakening the Lexan body underneath
  • Coverage figures are approximate and depend on body size, coating thickness and application method
  • Close the container securely after use and store correctly to help prevent the remaining product from drying out
