FAQ
What is a BEC? A Battery Eliminator Circuit converts your main drive battery voltage into a stable supply for the receiver, servos and compatible accessories, eliminating the need for a separate receiver battery in many applications.
Why would I install an external BEC? High-torque digital servos can draw more current than many ESC internal BECs are designed to supply. An external BEC provides a higher-capacity regulated power source, helping reduce brownouts and voltage drop.
Can I adjust the output voltage? Yes. The output is adjustable from 4.75V to 12.0V using Castle Link software. Castle Link hardware is sold separately.
Does it come preset? Yes. The factory default output voltage is 5.25V.
Is the CC BEC 2.0 waterproof? No. This version (CSE010015400) is not waterproof. Castle also offers a separate waterproof CC BEC 2.0 WP model.
Can it power multiple servos? Yes, provided the combined current draw remains within the BEC's capabilities and the selected output voltage is appropriate for the connected electronics.
Can it be connected alongside another BEC? No. Castle advises that the CC BEC 2.0 should not be operated in series or parallel with another BEC or backup receiver battery connected to the receiver or servo side of the circuit.
Do I need Castle Link? The BEC operates straight from the package, but Castle Link is required if you wish to change the output voltage. Newer production units require Castle Link 2 software for programming.
Can it power FPV cameras or lighting? Yes. The adjustable regulated output makes it suitable for compatible cameras, lighting systems and other onboard accessories within the BEC's voltage and current ratings.
