FAQ

Does this paint require a backing coat? Yes. Spaz Stix Ultimate Black Backer (SZX10200 or SZX10209) is required to achieve the intended mirror chrome finish, maximum reflectivity and long-term durability.

Can this paint be used on surfaces other than polycarbonate? Yes. For external applications, apply Ultimate Black Backer first, followed by the Mirror Chrome, then seal it with Spaz Stix Ultimate Clear Coat using several very light coats.

Why are light clear coats important? Heavy clear coats can reduce the mirror chrome effect. Applying several light coats with adequate drying time helps preserve the highest possible reflectivity.

Can I spray this directly onto a clear RC body? Yes. Apply the Mirror Chrome to the inside of a clear polycarbonate body, then back it with Ultimate Black Backer to achieve the intended chrome finish.

Important Notes

  • Ultimate Black Backer (SZX10200 or SZX10209) is required to achieve the intended mirror chrome effect.
  • For polycarbonate RC bodies, apply the chrome paint to the inside of the body and back it with Ultimate Black Backer.
  • For external applications, apply Ultimate Black Backer first, followed by the chrome paint, then protect it with Spaz Stix Ultimate Clear Coat (SZX10900 or SZX10909).
  • Apply clear coat only in very light coats with adequate drying time between coats to minimise loss of reflectivity.
  • The full mirror chrome effect is more difficult to achieve on external applications than on polycarbonate bodies.
  • Always practise on a scrap piece before painting your final project.
  • Test compatibility before applying to materials other than polycarbonate.
  • Use in a well-ventilated area and follow all safety instructions printed on the aerosol can.
