The Tamiya Ford F-150 Ranger XLT is a 1/10 scale 2WD RC pick-up truck assembly kit that revives Tamiya's classic 1981 model with a highly detailed ABS body, rear-motor direct-drive chassis, independent suspension, oil dampers and period-style three-piece wheels.
Features
- Classic Tamiya Re-Issue: Revives the Ford F-150 Ranger XLT RC kit originally released by Tamiya in 1981
- Seventh-Generation Ford F-150: Recreates the angular styling of the 1980 Ford F-Series and its upscale Ranger XLT trim
- Detailed ABS Body: Rigid moulded ABS body provides classic scale-model detailing rather than a conventional polycarbonate shell
- Updated Scale Details: Newly moulded side mirrors, wipers, headlights, front grille and bumper guards enhance the appearance of the re-release
- Stealth Front Body Mount: Internal front body hook eliminates visible front body-post holes for a cleaner bonnet appearance
- Metal-Plated Details: Front and rear bumper components and mirrors feature bright plated finishes
- LED-Ready Headlights: Headlight parts can accept separately available Tamiya LED lights
- Driver Figure Included: Adds further scale detail to the finished truck
- Rear-Motor 2WD Chassis: Rear-wheel-drive direct-drive layout preserves the distinctive mechanical design of the classic platform
- FRP and Duralumin Chassis: 2mm FRP main plate is reinforced by a duralumin panel for a balance of rigidity and controlled flex
- Independent Suspension: Front double trailing-arm and rear swing-axle suspension use metal components and oil dampers
- Full Ball Bearings: Drivetrain is equipped with ball bearings to reduce rotational friction
- Protected Electronics: A transparent plastic mechanism box helps shield the radio equipment and battery from dust and debris
- Three-Piece Centre-Lock Wheels: Period-style wheels securely retain the semi-pneumatic block-pattern tyres
- Two Gear Ratios: Chassis supports 6.5:1 and 9.3:1 gearing configurations

FAQ
Is the Tamiya Ford F-150 Ranger XLT 58759 ready to run? No. This is an assembly kit that requires building and installation of the separately purchased radio system, steering servo, drive battery and other completion equipment before use.
Does Tamiya 58759 include a motor and ESC? Yes. Tamiya's current specification lists a Type 540 brushed motor and an ESC with the export-market kit. Some retailer descriptions refer to a Torque-Tuned motor, but Tamiya's official technical specification identifies the supplied motor as a Type 540 unit compatible with the 540-J specification.
Will a normal full-length 1/10 stick battery fit this truck? Not necessarily. The battery sits inside the compact transparent mechanism box, and Tamiya USA specifies a compatible battery size of approximately 96 x 47 x 25mm. OZRC recommends using this measurement when selecting a 7.2V or 7.4V pack rather than assuming a conventional full-length stick pack will fit.
Can lights be fitted to the Ford F-150 Ranger XLT? Yes. Tamiya states that the newly moulded headlight parts can accept separately sold LED lights.
Should Tamiya PS paint be used on the body? No. The main truck body is moulded from ABS plastic rather than polycarbonate. Tamiya PS sprays are intended for polycarbonate bodies, so use paint suitable for the ABS body and other plastic detail parts.
