The Tamiya Lunch Box EVO is a 1/10 scale 2WD electric RC monster truck assembly kit that brings updated handling and suspension performance to an iconic Tamiya design. Inspired by the original 1987 Lunch Box, the EVO retains its distinctive boxy van body and wheelie-friendly character while introducing a longer wheelbase, wider track, double wishbone front suspension and four CVA oil dampers. Complete with a 540 brushed motor, full ball bearings and large off-road tyres, it offers a rewarding classic RC building experience with modernised running gear.

FAQ

Is the Tamiya Lunch Box EVO ready to run? No. The Lunch Box EVO is an unassembled RC kit. Building, body finishing and installation of the radio equipment are required before driving. A compatible two-channel radio system, steering servo, drive battery and charger must be purchased separately.

What is different about the Lunch Box EVO compared with the original Lunch Box? The EVO introduces front double wishbone suspension, rear three-link suspension, four CVA oil dampers, revised steering and a wider, longer chassis layout. It also has a lower body mounting position and full ball bearings while retaining the classic van styling and rear-wheel-drive configuration.

Does the Lunch Box EVO include an ESC and motor? Yes. The supplied kit configuration includes a 540-type brushed motor and Hobbywing THW-1060 electronic speed controller. Radio equipment, a steering servo, drive battery and charger are still required.

Does the Lunch Box EVO include ball bearings? Yes. The EVO includes full ball bearings for its standard assembly. The optional hex wheel hub conversion may require additional 950-size bearings and modification of the wheel mounting holes.

What paint should be used on the Lunch Box EVO body? The body is moulded from hard ABS plastic rather than clear polycarbonate. Use suitable Tamiya TS spray paint for the required finish and detailing. Tamiya PS paints are intended for polycarbonate bodies and are not the correct default choice for this hard plastic shell.

• This product is an unassembled kit and requires construction before use.
• Requires a compatible two-channel transmitter and receiver, steering servo, drive battery and battery charger.
• Transmitter batteries, suitable tools and Tamiya TS finishing paints are required separately.
• The supplied Hobbywing THW-1060 is a brushed motor ESC. Do not connect it to a brushless motor.
• Although the ESC supports suitable 2S–3S LiPo configurations, battery selection must also respect the supplied motor and drivetrain requirements. A compatible 7.2V NiMH or 7.4V LiPo setup is a conventional starting point.
• Hex wheel hub conversion parts are supplied, but extra bearings and wheel preparation may be required to complete that optional conversion.
• The standard kit includes full ball bearings; additional bearings are associated with optional conversion configurations.
• Use paint designed for hard plastic model bodies, not polycarbonate-only paint.
• Confirm battery connector compatibility, servo dimensions and radio installation requirements before assembly.
• Optional upgrades, aftermarket wheels and additional accessories are sold separately.
