The Traxxas XRT combines the extreme 8S power and durability of the X-Maxx platform with a low-profile, race-inspired chassis engineered for higher-speed handling. Its ultra-wide stance, low centre of gravity and responsive suspension make it suited to fast off-road driving, large jumps and high-power recreational bashing.
The blue clipless body sits low over the chassis and incorporates an internal support cage with strategically positioned external skids. Gravix race tyres provide stable, precise handling across hard-packed dirt and mixed off-road surfaces, while the rear wing adds high-speed stability.
Power comes from the waterproof VXL-8s electronic speed controller and Velineon 1200XL 1275kV brushless motor. With two matching 4S LiPo batteries and the included optional high-speed gearing, Traxxas rates the XRT for speeds exceeding 60mph or approximately 96km/h.

FAQ
Does the Traxxas XRT include batteries and a charger? No. Two matching LiPo batteries, a compatible balance charger and four AA transmitter batteries are required separately.
Can the XRT run on two 3S batteries? Yes. Two matching 3S LiPo batteries provide 6S operation with reduced acceleration and top speed. Two matching 4S packs are required for full 8S performance.
Can different battery packs be mixed? No. Both batteries should have the same cell count, capacity, discharge rating, age, condition and charge level.
Will any 4S battery fit? No. Each battery must fit securely within the 186mm × 51mm × 44mm tray and use a compatible connector. Confirm the battery dimensions before ordering.
How fast is the Traxxas XRT? Traxxas rates the XRT for speeds exceeding 60mph when using two suitable 4S LiPo batteries and the included optional high-speed gearing. Actual speed varies with gearing, battery condition, surface and temperature.
Is the optional gearing suitable for normal off-road use? The high-speed gearing is intended for controlled speed runs on firm, open surfaces. Standard gearing is more suitable for grass, loose dirt, repeated acceleration and jumping.
What is the difference between the XRT and X-Maxx? The XRT has a lower body, wider stance, lower centre of gravity and more handling-focused tyres and suspension setup. The X-Maxx has greater ground clearance and a more traditional monster-truck configuration.
Is the XRT a truggy or monster truck? It combines elements of both. Traxxas classifies it as an X-Truck, while retailers often describe it as a large-scale race truck or truggy because of its low-profile body and wide handling-focused chassis.
Does the XRT have belted tyres? The standard 78086-4 is supplied with Gravix race tyres rather than the factory-belted Sledgehammer tyres used on the updated X-Maxx. Do not describe the standard XRT tyres as belted unless the fitted tyre set has been changed.
Does it include Traxxas Stability Management? Yes. TSM provides adjustable steering assistance to help maintain control on loose or slippery surfaces.
Is telemetry included? The VXL-8s system supports integrated telemetry. Displaying and adjusting data through a compatible mobile device requires the separately available Traxxas Link Wireless Module.
Is the XRT waterproof? The installed ESC, receiver box and steering servo are designed for wet-condition use. The truck must still be cleaned, dried and maintained after exposure to water or mud.
Is the XRT suitable for beginners? Its ready-to-run construction is straightforward, but the size, weight and speed make it an advanced high-performance vehicle. New drivers should begin on 6S or use reduced-power settings in a large clear area.
Why should motor and ESC temperatures be monitored? High gearing, heavy tyres, long grass, warm weather and repeated acceleration can increase operating temperatures. Stop and allow the power system to cool if performance drops or components become excessively hot.
Can the XRT self-right itself? The standard XRT supports Traxxas self-righting. Use the function only briefly and retrieve the truck manually if it does not recover, as repeated attempts can place additional load on the drivetrain.
Important Notes
- The drive batteries, charger and four AA transmitter batteries are not included.
- Use two matching batteries with identical cell count, capacity, discharge rating and condition.
- Never combine a 3S battery with a 4S battery.
- Confirm battery dimensions before purchase; each tray measures 186mm × 51mm × 44mm.
- Use a compatible LiPo balance charger and the correct charging program.
- Never charge LiPo batteries unattended.
- Do not charge or operate a swollen, damaged, punctured or excessively hot battery.
- The advertised 60mph-plus speed requires two suitable 4S batteries and optional high-speed gearing.
- High-speed gearing can substantially increase motor and ESC temperatures.
- Use standard gearing for grass, loose terrain, jumping and repeated acceleration.
- Monitor power-system temperatures regularly in warm Australian conditions.
- Inspect the tyres, wheel nuts, driveshafts and suspension before every high-speed session.
- The XRT weighs more than 10kg with typical batteries installed and can cause serious injury or property damage.
- Operate only in a large clear area away from people, animals, roads, vehicles and fragile property.
- Waterproof electronics do not remove the need for cleaning, drying and lubrication after wet use.
- Avoid salt water because it can rapidly corrode bearings, hardware and electrical connections.
- Optional batteries, chargers, telemetry accessories and upgrades shown in promotional images are sold separately.
