The ARRMA TYPHON 223S BLX V4 is a ready-to-run 1/8 scale brushless RC buggy that combines beginner-friendly speed control with serious 3S bashing performance. Its low-profile red and blue buggy body, high rear wing and wide 4X4 chassis deliver distinctive race-inspired styling with the durability required for off-road use.

A factory-installed Spektrum 3100kV brushless motor and SLT 80A 2-in-1 ESC and receiver support compatible 2S and 3S hardcase LiPo batteries. Run the TYPHON on 2S for more manageable acceleration and speeds above approximately 56km/h, or install a suitable 3S battery to unlock its advertised 80km/h-plus potential.

The included Spektrum SLT3 transmitter offers selectable 50%, 75% and 100% throttle limits, allowing the buggy’s response to be matched to the driver’s ability. Spektrum Dynamic Stability Control adds four selectable steering-assistance modes to help maintain direction on loose or slippery surfaces.

A heavy-duty four-wheel-drive system, all-metal centre differential, independent suspension and adjustable oil-filled shocks prepare the TYPHON for dirt, gravel, compact surfaces, short grass, jumps and general off-road bashing.

FAQ

Does the ARRMA TYPHON 223S include a battery and charger? No. The buggy includes the SLT3 transmitter and four AA batteries, but the main 2S or 3S hardcase LiPo battery and compatible charger are sold separately.

What does 223S mean? The 223S power system supports both 2S and 3S LiPo batteries. This allows a driver to begin with more manageable 2S performance before progressing to 3S.

Should a beginner use a 2S or 3S battery? A 2S battery is generally the better starting option. Combining 2S power with the transmitter set to 50% or 75% throttle makes the buggy easier to control.

How fast is the TYPHON 223S? ARRMA advertises speeds above 35mph, or approximately 56km/h, on 2S and more than 50mph, or approximately 80km/h, on 3S. Actual speed depends on battery performance, terrain, temperature and vehicle condition.

Can it reach 50mph with a 2S battery? No. The 50mph-plus rating requires a suitable 3S LiPo battery. ARRMA rates the buggy for 35mph-plus performance on 2S.

Can the TYPHON 223S use a 4S battery? No. The factory-installed power system is rated for a maximum of one 3S LiPo battery.

What size battery fits the TYPHON 223S? Use a suitable 2S or 3S hardcase LiPo battery no larger than 165mm × 51mm × 48mm. Confirm the dimensions and connector before ordering.

Can a softcase LiPo battery be used? ARRMA specifies a hardcase LiPo battery. The rigid casing provides additional physical protection during off-road driving and impacts.

What does the transmitter throttle limiter do? The SLT3 transmitter can limit maximum throttle to 50% or 75%. Selecting 100% makes the full available output of the installed battery accessible.

What does Dynamic Stability Control do? DSC automatically makes steering corrections to help the buggy maintain its intended direction on loose or slippery surfaces. It assists the driver but does not control the throttle or prevent every accident.

Can Dynamic Stability Control be switched off? Yes. Four selectable DSC modes are available, including an off setting for unassisted driving.

Why does the buggy feel slow after changing settings? Check that the transmitter throttle limiter is set to the intended position and follow the manufacturer’s binding and calibration instructions. Incorrect calibration or an active 50% or 75% limit can reduce available throttle.

Why might the ESC reduce power early? Low-voltage protection can activate when battery voltage drops under load. Cold conditions, a weak or poorly charged battery, high drivetrain load and repeated full-throttle use can contribute. Stop driving and inspect the battery rather than repeatedly restarting the vehicle.

Does this model use a centre differential? Yes. The TYPHON 223S V4 uses an all-metal gear centre differential to distribute power between the front and rear drivetrains.

Is the body secured with conventional clips? No. The body uses a hidden clipless quick-release retention system for convenient chassis access.

Is the TYPHON 223S intended for racing? It uses a race-buggy layout, but it is primarily designed as a durable ready-to-run basher. Eligibility for organised racing depends on the rules used by the individual club or event.

Can the TYPHON be driven on grass? It can be driven on short, dry grass. Long or thick grass creates additional resistance and can quickly increase motor, ESC and battery temperatures.

Can it be driven in wet conditions? The installed electronics are designed for wet running conditions, but the buggy must not be submerged. Clean, inspect and dry the vehicle after wet or muddy operation.

What routine maintenance is required? Check the wheel fasteners, tyres, shocks, driveshafts and suspension after each session. Remove trapped stones, grass and dirt, inspect for damage and allow the electronics and battery to cool before another run.

Important Notes

  • The main drive battery and charger are not included.
  • Four AA batteries for the transmitter are included.
  • Use one compatible 2S or 3S hardcase LiPo battery with an IC5 connector.
  • Confirm that the battery does not exceed 165mm × 51mm × 48mm before purchase.
  • Do not connect a 4S battery to the factory-installed electronics.
  • The 35mph-plus speed claim applies to operation with a suitable 2S LiPo battery.
  • The 50mph-plus speed claim requires a suitable 3S LiPo battery and appropriate running conditions.
  • Actual speed varies with battery performance, terrain, temperature and vehicle condition.
  • Beginner drivers should start with 2S power and the transmitter set to 50% throttle.
  • DSC can improve directional stability but cannot prevent every spin, rollover or collision.
  • Use a balance charger suitable for the selected battery’s chemistry, cell count and connector.
  • Never charge a LiPo battery unattended.
  • Charge LiPo batteries on a non-flammable surface and inside a suitable LiPo charging bag or fire-resistant container.
  • Do not use or charge a swollen, punctured, damaged or excessively hot LiPo battery.
  • Stop driving when low-voltage protection activates and recharge the battery correctly before further use.
  • Allow the motor, ESC and battery to cool between demanding runs.
  • Monitor temperatures when driving through grass, in hot weather or during repeated full-throttle operation.
  • Inspect the tyres and wheel fasteners before every high-speed session.
  • Operate in a clear area away from people, animals, roads, vehicles and fragile property.
  • Water-resistant construction does not make the buggy suitable for submersion.
  • Clean and dry the buggy after wet, muddy or dusty operation.
  • Avoid salt water because it can rapidly corrode bearings, hardware and electrical connections.
  • Manufacturer warranty coverage is subject to applicable regional terms and conditions.
