Is the Axial SCX24 Lexus GX 470 ready to run? Yes. The crawler is fully assembled and includes the radio system, vehicle battery, USB-C charger and AA transmitter batteries.

Is the Lexus body officially licensed? Yes. The ABS hard body is officially licensed by Lexus and includes moulded details, scale accessories and working lights.

Is the body plastic or polycarbonate? The GX 470 uses a rigid painted ABS hard body rather than a flexible polycarbonate shell. This provides excellent scale detail but also adds more upper-body weight than a lightweight crawler body.

How does the body open? The GX 470 uses a hinged, clipless body system. The body swings upward to provide convenient access to the battery and electronics without removing traditional body clips.

How long does the included battery run? Axial states that the included 350mAh LiPo battery can provide more than 30 minutes of runtime. Actual runtime varies with terrain, throttle use, battery condition and vehicle setup.

Can the SCX24 Lexus GX 470 be used indoors? Yes. Its compact size and low-speed control make it suitable for indoor courses as well as outdoor rocks, dirt and trail obstacles.

Is it waterproof? Do not assume the complete vehicle is waterproof. Avoid submerging the crawler and protect the electronics from excessive water, mud and moisture. Dry and maintain the vehicle after damp use.

Does it use oil-filled shocks? Yes. The factory shocks are oil-filled with 80wt oil and include adjustable spring preload.

What battery connector does it use? The vehicle uses a PH 2.0 High-Current Ultra Micro connector. Any replacement battery must also fit within the specified battery tray dimensions and meet the vehicle’s 2S LiPo requirements.

Can it be upgraded with standard SCX24 parts? Many drivetrain and chassis components are based on the SCX24 platform, but the GX 470 has a unique hard body, body-mounting system and wheelbase configuration. Confirm individual upgrade compatibility before ordering.

Does the heavier hard body affect crawling performance? The detailed ABS body raises the vehicle’s centre of gravity compared with a lightweight body. Careful throttle control helps on steep side slopes, while compatible low-mounted weight upgrades may improve stability.

Should a stronger steering servo be installed immediately? The included servo is suitable for the standard RTR configuration. A stronger servo may become useful after adding heavier wheels, brass components or higher-grip tyres, but compatibility and clearance should be checked before upgrading.
