FAQ
Which Futaba transmitters are compatible with the R404SBS? The Futaba R404SBS requires a transmitter supporting the Futaba F-4G radio system, such as a compatible Futaba 10PX. The transmitter must be configured to F-4G mode before linking. The receiver is not compatible with T-FHSS, T-FHSS SR, S-FHSS or FASST transmission modes.
Is the Futaba R404SBS a 4-channel or 10-channel receiver? The Futaba R404SBS provides four conventional PWM channels for standard servo and ESC connections. Up to 10 channels are available through S.BUS2 when used with a compatible Futaba transmitter and suitable S.BUS2 equipment.
Does the Futaba R404SBS support telemetry? Yes. The R404SBS supports bidirectional telemetry through Futaba's F-4G radio system. Compatible S.BUS2 telemetry sensors can be connected to monitor parameters such as temperature, voltage and motor speed. Sensors are sold separately.
Can the R404SBS be used in a nitro or petrol RC car? Yes. Futaba specifies the R404SBS for RC car applications without the electric-only restriction applied to the R404SBS-E version. OZRC recommends protecting the receiver from vibration, moisture and engine heat when installing it in a nitro or petrol vehicle.
Important Notes
- The R404SBS operates with Futaba F-4G transmitters only. It cannot be linked using T-FHSS, T-FHSS SR, S-FHSS, FHSS, FASST or FASSTest radio modes.
- The R404SBS is different from the R404SBS-E. The R404SBS-E is restricted to electric RC car applications.
- The receiver provides four conventional PWM outputs. Channels 5–10 require compatible S.BUS2 equipment.
- Futaba SR mode must only be used with compatible SR servos. Connecting an unsuitable servo to an SR-enabled channel can damage the equipment.
- Operating voltage must remain within 3.7–7.4V DC. Connected servos and electronics must also support the selected supply voltage.
- Do not use dry-cell batteries as a direct receiver power supply.
- The receiver is not waterproof. Protect it from water, excessive vibration and physical damage.
- Position the external aerial correctly and avoid covering the receiver's internal aerial area with conductive materials.
- After linking, restart the receiver and verify steering, throttle and failsafe operation before driving.
- Compatible transmitter, servos, ESC, receiver power supply and telemetry sensors are not included.
