FAQ

Is the Prime RC Mini P51D ready to fly? Yes. It includes the assembled aircraft, Mode 2 transmitter, flight battery, USB charging cable, transmitter batteries, spare propeller and screwdriver.

What is Mode 2? Mode 2 places throttle and rudder on the left transmitter stick, with elevator and aileron control on the right stick. It is the most commonly used transmitter layout in Australia.

How do the three gyro modes work? Strong Assist limits bank and pitch inputs for beginner flying, Soft Assist reduces the amount of stabilisation for progressing pilots, and Manual mode turns the TOP-Gyro assistance off.

Does the gyro fly the aircraft automatically? No. The gyro helps stabilise the model and may limit control angles in beginner mode, but the pilot must still control the throttle, direction, height and landing approach.

How do the one-key aerobatics work? While flying in a supported gyro mode, press the aerobatics button and move the appropriate control stick during the transmitter beeps. An aileron input commands an automatic roll, while an elevator input commands an automatic loop.

What does the one-key U-turn function do? It commands the plane to turn in the opposite direction to its recorded take-off direction. It is a flight aid rather than a GPS return-to-home system and does not control altitude, landing or obstacle avoidance.

Is this suitable as a first RC plane? The strong gyro assistance, low weight and durable EPP construction make it more approachable than a fully manual warbird. However, beginners should still fly in a large open area, choose calm weather and practise basic orientation before attempting aerobatics.

Can it fly indoors? It may be flown indoors only in a suitably large, unobstructed venue such as a sports hall. It is not suitable for normal household rooms.

How much wind can it handle? As a lightweight 75g model, it is best flown in calm or very light wind. Stronger wind can carry the aircraft away, reduce control authority and make landing difficult.

Can it take off from the ground? Yes, provided a smooth and sufficiently long runway is available. Hand launching is generally more practical on grass or uneven ground.

How should it be hand launched? Use the recommended throttle setting, point the aircraft into the wind and launch it straight ahead with a firm, level throw. Avoid throwing it sharply upward because this can cause an immediate stall.

What happens if the propeller strikes an obstacle? The propeller-saver system is designed to release the propeller from its mount, helping protect the propeller and reduce motor load. Inspect the propeller and adaptor for damage before refitting them.

How long does the battery last? The listed flight time is approximately 12–15 minutes. Actual duration varies with throttle use, wind, battery condition and flying style.

Can extra batteries be purchased? Compatible replacement batteries may be used, but the voltage, connector, dimensions, capacity and weight must match the aircraft's requirements. An unsuitable battery can alter the centre of gravity or damage the electronics.
